VueLife® Culture Systems

Inert Properties

FEP does not adsorb or bind any known chemical or biological. It contains no plasticizers, leachables nor any extractables. Simply put, cells do not stick to the bag and nothing from the bag adversely affects the the cells.

Biologically

The bag does not contribute to or detract from biological processes.

Chemically

Nonreactive, noncatalytic and insoluble.

Optically

Optically transparent even to U.V. light

Immunologically

Is non-antigenic to growing cells.

Permeability

The high gas and low water or water vapor permeability of the bags make them uniquely suited for use in CO2 incubators.

High Permeability to CO2 and O2 (the highest of any plastic)
Cultures can be incubated directly in bags

Low Permeability to H2O or H2O Vapor (the lowest of any plastic)
Humidified incubators are not required as there is virtually no water loss due to evaporation.

Temperature Range

Since all Afc bags are manufactured from fluoro-polymers, the bags remain flexible over an extremely wide temperature range:  from minus 200 degrees C to + 200 degrees C.

Due to the bags' strength and flexibility, they are ideal for use in liquid nitrogen environments (for the storage of valuable cellular, and other materials).  Afc bags are ideal for, and used in extreme, extra-terrestrial conditions.
