A. Smith Memorial Award Winner
Herb
Cullis has been selected as the 2004 Dale A. Smith
Memorial Award recipient. He is being recognized for
his primary role in the development of instrumentation for
apheresis technology. A medical technologist and
dedicated member of AABB since 1967, Mr. Cullis is
currently the president of American Fluoroseal Corp., in
Gaithersburg, Md. He will receive his award on Tues.
Oct. 26, during the AABB gala.
First awarded in
2003, the Dale A. Smith Memorial Award, funded by Baxter
Healthcare Corp., was created in honor of the
corporation's longtime executive, Dale A. Smith, who was
responsible for the establishment of the Fenwal division.
The award, presently annually, recognizes groundbreaking
work in the application of technology to the practice of
transfusion medicine.
